Since I want to replace all of the old brake and fuel line to ensure the car's safety and reliability, I decided it would be a good opportunity to remove the engine and just give the entire engine bay an overhaul. The previous paintjob has a lot of overspray on parts and I suspect there is a lot of hidden rust in here that I will attempt to repair at the same time.
As noted in the pictures below, I first removed the engine and then I removed all of the body panels surrounding the engine bay. I intend to strip these and paint them before reinstalling, but that is saved for another page. There is a large variety of items that remain in the engine bay after pulling the engine, but not nearly as much as in a modern car. You can see in the progression below the difference in appearance once all of the components were removed, leaving me with a bay ready to be stripped and built back up.
