This is a collection of pictures for our English Setter/Foxhound (mix) puppy. What a ball of energy he is!
Tannin joined us on September 13, 2008 at the age of 5 months old. We adopted him from the Henrico Humane Society and he has been an absolute joy and a terrific addition to our family. Now we just have to keep from spoiling him rotten...
Where did the name "Tannin"come from?
Tannin is a wine-related word. Tannin is found in the skins, seeds,
and stems of grapes. Wine that is fermented while still in contact
with these parts of the grape - red wine - absorbs a quantity of
tannin, which lends a distinct character to the wine. Tannin is
crucially important to the complexity of a wine and how well it ages
over time. High tannin wines tend to age best for long periods of
time. Wines that have a great deal of tannin in them when young often
seem searing, creating a sense of dryness in the mouth, particularly
the roof of the mouth. Recently, a study in wine production and
consumption has shown that tannins have a beneficial effect on
vascular health. So, anyone who knows Lindsey, knows she enjoys a
good glass of wine. We enjoy touring Virginia vineyards and trying
every bottle sold at Sam's Club. Thus, this name for our puppy seemed
very logical. :)

Tannin is now 9 months old and has enjoyed his first Thanksgiving and Christmas. He's cute and cuddly, but definitely a little stubborn sometimes. In particular, when it's time for us to go to work or bed, he will run and hide from having to go to the crate. Lindsey frequently carries the 40 pound "baby" up the stairs. I call it spoiled; she calls it being cute. Basically, Tannin is spoiled rotten. Here are a few more pictures of our growing boy:

Tannin loves to go to the dog park! He loves to play and play and play! We go to the Fluvanna Dog Park several times a week. We go to the Hanover Dog Park every other weekend or so. Sometimes Tannin is even special enough to go to Day Care (Four Paws Resort). He also plays a lot with Maggie and Gracie (Lindsey's Mom's dogs). The Fall was his favorite...rolling around in the big leaf pile!
